The Seven Hells

Preoccupied with the place of hell within our imaginations – an infinite burning inferno that punishes us eternally for our sins – this photographic series was shot in an area in Japan called Seven Hells where natural volcanic activity causes steam and boiling water to gush out of the ground, accentuating the undulating line between the real and the imagined.
