2018 | Taxidermy albino kangaroo, neon | Variable dimensions
Inside an inaccessible pitch dark vitrine, an albino kangaroo stands alone with a neon sign that reads the word “Lies” behind it. Disco lights flicker as the animal changes color like a chameleon, making it difficult to grasp its form fully. In this work, the kangaroo impersonates the global citizen of today, trapped within his own constructed bubble of lies and deception. Living in denial of the political and social situations surrounding him, this silly character nonchalantly shape shifts and maneuvers his psyche and physique to fit his skewed view of the world, even though he is totally aware of its artificiality.
